I've noticed a whole lot of "I'm old" commentary in threads here this week. I'm genuinely curious what the age span is in this fandom. I freely admit that I am an old fart. I got on the Intertubes full back in 1988, when, to be honest, my access was insanely limited and mostly via Bitnet Relay Chat (I first stuck my toe in the water in 1986 by doign research for a paper on CompuServe). But allowing someone's writing to guide my guess of age can be very dangerous. There's fans here who are in college but make me look like an oblivious moron with their insightful writing. And there's oldsters who are having their blissful second childhood.

Although I've made a poll to keep it fun, I'll give my precise age to take away the sting. I'm just about to turn the same number as the Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything.

(For you heathens who haven't read "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," that means I'm currently 41).

From Friday the 1st July there will be a weekly themed rec post where people can comment with recs for that weeks theme.

There's been a lot of suggestions for themes, so to find which ones will be used first there's a poll of the options. The top 10 with the most votes will be the rec themes for the next 10 weeks. So vote for as many or as few as you like.

There will be another suggestions for themes post and poll like this for the next block of 10 in about 7 weeks time, so if there's a theme you like to see that's not listed below suggest it for next time around.

The results are:

It was a very close result, but we'll go with the majority decision of:

In the comments for the poll people requested that fics featuring these characters mentioned it somewhere in the header info.

Quite a few people asked me about this, and best way of deciding this in a way that most of the people on this comm are happy with is to have a vote on it.

The characters in question are:

Alice and Stephen.
Rhiannon and her family.

Characters from Torchwood series out side the scope of this comm (Classic Torchwood) aren't being considered for inclusion in this poll.
